FreeBSD 5.x uses devfs (man 5 devfs; man 8 devfs) which among many other
things means that /dev is "created" afresh on each boot. /etc/rc.devfs
is probably the "proper" place to create that link. (At least unless
some more "sophisticated" support via /etc/rc.conf has been added in 5.1
- I'm still at 5.0.)
