What's the output of "ntpq -c pe", both about a minute after ntp is
 started and about 5 minutes later?
-->
remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter
==================================================================
clock.redhat.co 0.0.0.0  16 u  -     64   0  0.000 0.000 4000.00

remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter
==================================================================
clock.redhat.co 0.0.0.0  16 u  -     128   0  0.000 0.000 4000.00

 Worth checking that ntp is running by doing a "ps ax|grep ntp".
--> I do checked with ps aux|grep ntpd.

 Oh, and which version of RedHat are you running? There is no kernel
 2.4.80 (yet anyway).

--> 2.4.20-8
