Hi All,
I am running Cent OS 4.1 (same as Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 4.1, only cheaper).
How do I change ntpd's time server? I have altered,
/etc/ntp.conf and /etc/ntp/ntpservers to use time.nist.gov.
I stopped and restarted ntpd several times.
I can run "ntpdate -s time.nist.gov" manually
with no problems
But, ntpd still gets caught in my firewall asking
for server from three other servers:
Sep 16 12:29:19 localhost kernel: ppp-in Everything Else IN=ppp0 OUT=
MAC= SRC=194.88.5.36 DST=66.53.202.xxx LEN=76 TOS=0x10 PREC=0x00 TTL=51
ID=0 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=123 DPT=123 LEN=56
Sep 16 12:29:19 localhost kernel: ppp-in Everything Else IN=ppp0 OUT=
MAC= SRC=62.57.0.38 DST=66.53.202.xxx LEN=76 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=45
ID=23255 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=123 DPT=123 LEN=56
Sep 16 12:29:19 localhost kernel: ppp-in Everything Else IN=ppp0 OUT=
MAC= SRC=66.70.29.130 DST=66.53.202.xxx LEN=76 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=54
ID=45723 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=123 DPT=123 LEN=56
What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks,
