There is no point even starting to do a comparsion until you have
defined
your objectives. Is the only thing you care about is keeping the
correct
time over a LAN using your own servers? Or do you want to discipline
the
clock frequency and offset by using various servers over the Internet
and
providing time to other downstream clients over a WAN? Or something
inbetween?

If the former, then running ntpdate every minute might do the trick.
If the
latter, you will be hard pressed to find anything better than the NTP
ref
implementation from the University of Deleware. But unless you know
what you
are trying to achieve, you will not know if you have got it.
