There isn't an official man page for ntpd (the documentation is HTML),
but it would only recommend that as a second best to running ntpd
normally, or as something to be done, on boot, before running ntpd normally.
It is suggesting using that as a replacement for ntpdate, but it is
assuming that normal users would not use ntpdate in a cron job.
