[ntp:questions] ntpq -p versus ntpstat

Hi:

I am running ntp on a fedora 12 machine. The time sync error/offset
values reported by ntpserver and "ntpq -p" are quite different. I have
always tended to rely on "ntpq -p". Is there an explanation for this
difference? My Fedora 12 machine has been up overnight.

Thanks for any comments.

# ntpstat
synchronised to NTP server (192.168.252.3) at stratum 6
   time correct to within 79 ms
   polling server every 16 s

# ntpq -p
     remote refid st t when poll reach delay
offset  jitter
==============================================================================
*ops   192.168.100.1    5 u    2   16  377    0.100   -1.831   0.245

Note: ops has IP address 192.168.252.3

Thanks.

Gautam
