On a linux system you can try these two commands..

cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/available_clocksource

cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/current_clocksource

One newer hardware some of the available_clocksource may no longer run
at a uniform rate.  For example some CPUs can slow their rate to save
power.   Google has lots of info on how these  work but it depends on
your exact hardware.
