One could mark the config file with an ID stamp of some sort.
Requiring a command line user to know which flavor of config file
was in use and select an appropriate option is not particularly
friendly.  Do the ``#!'' sort of magic, e.g.:

  #=NTP5

to indicate "flavor 5 of an NTP config file".  No options, please.  :)
