Is this related to the bug https://bugs.ntp.org/show_bug.cgi?id=629 ?

In the Fedora package I still include the IP_PKTINFO patch to allow packets
sent to 255.255.255.255 on the IPv4 wildcard socket. I think it worked
fine the last time I checked.
