Most RS-232 receivers will do the right thing if you feed them a TTL/CMOS 
signal.

I'd probably wire it up and see if it worked.

Buzzard's circuit should work.  It inverts the signal.  So will the normal 
RS-232 level translator chips, like the MAX232

You can fix that in the config file, at least on some/most drivers.  You may 
have to fix it if you don't add the expected inversion.
