Without needing to hardcode the IP: zbasel.fortyytwo.ch has an uptime of 895
days right now, and I don't think this is unusual for the kind of low
maintenance web/mailserver that it is. (I do update the servicees that are
running, but I'm a bit scared to update the kernel as it is since it's a
self-compiled kernel that I'd like to replace by a distribution kernel, but
I don't have remote console access there...)
But you're probably right, too, some people tend to hardcode IP addresses.
Or hardcode the reverse lookup of an IP they got via pool.ntp.org DNS
