But only for routing, for which they are heavily optimised, not for NTP,
which involves the relatively limited capacity control processor.

It is however true that the commercial sides of ISPs, more and more,
have no understanding of the technology they use, other than that that is
visible to, and requested by, the run of the mill Windows user.
