There are bugs with time keeping on amd64 chips, especially dual-core
chips, which are fixed in newer kernels. Try 2.6.14 from unstable, I think
it is fixed in 2.6.14.
[My amd64 dual-core box has a offset of >500ppm due to these bugs; I can't
upgrade to 2.6.14 due to sound breaking (mine is a desktop, not a server)]
