As expected, exactly five minutes after posting the message, the polling
interval increased to 128 seconds. Presumably it will continue to rise.
Had I not posted the original question, it would never have increased.
However, due to some sort of reverse Murphy's Law, posting about an
issue immediately (and mysteriously) resolves it and makes the poster
look rather silly.
We now return to your regularly scheduled program.
