Yes.  I think we are having a violent agreement.

If ntpd slews the clock, a user program will never see time go
backwards.

What I was trying to say is that the slew could go backward as well
as forward.  There is an "it goes" implied in the "(ONLY forward)".
But what is "it"?  You probably meant time.  I was thinking of
slewing when I read it.
