I did a little searching for you.  If you're using 2.6 kernel, you're 
looking for HZ in /usr/src/linux/include/asm_i386/param.h .  In the current 
version of the kernel, it's set to 100.  I just checked it.

I think you can also set it in the makemenuconfig.
