I had a /dev/chu_audio symlink at one point, but it didn't seem to
help.

I checked the permissions, and they seem to be okay.

crw-rw-rw- 1 root root    251,   1 2008-11-24 12:54 mixer

/dev/dsp is a symlink to /dev/oss/ich0/pcm0

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root          18 2008-11-24 12:54 dsp -> /dev/oss/
ich0/pcm0

time:/dev/oss/ich0# ll
total 0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 250, 2 2008-11-24 12:54 mix0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 250, 3 2008-11-24 12:54 pcm0

I'm going to try changing the entries in ntp.audio0 directly to the
devices in /dev/oss/ich0 for what it's worth.
