Thanks, Uwe.  No wonder I couldn't find it, that's not even my device 
(GPS18).  Checking:

I see from 2.70 to 2.80:  "Allow PPS to coast when fix is lost."

I wonder what the unit actually does?  I think I agree with the earlier 
comment about letting NTP decide which is better - a drifting PPS signal 
or the other Internet-sourced references.
