Ok, after some testing Martin and I found out that this bug was introduced in
tarball ntp-dev-4.2.0a-20050726.tar.gz , the version three days younger
(ntp-dev-4.2.0a-20050723) runs fine without crashing at all. 

A diff over the two source tree version shows that there were a number of
changes to the iocompletition routines plus some IPV6 and Multicast
fixes/rearrangements.

As Danny already said, the iocompletition parts are main candidates... We will
further investigate the changes but I wanted to keep you up to date, maybe we
can track down this bug faster when multiple persons are hunting it down.
