Just in case it's not clear...

The TSC calibration bug/glitch I'm talking about only happens when you 
reboot.  (There may be other ways to get there, but I don't hit them)

So if you are working on ntp, everything will be normal again after ntpd 
catches up.

You can probably speed that up by deleting the old drift file.

Sometimes you get lucky and get a new drift close to the old one.
