So it seems that something at somewhere is killing the packets. Can you do 
ntpq to my server?. 

I'm also begining to do systematic ntpq's  to a server here in Spain, and it 
seems nothing is lost, in spite of his high maxpoll (I asked him to reduce 
the maxpoll to 9). This is a 'ntpq -pn hora.engranada.es | grep 217.127.2.161

I'm Afraid it is because of my ISP (Telefonica Espa?a), as Wayne said before 
the delays are too high. But anyway is a rare problem, in last weeks there 
are some more servers in the pool from Spain and they hadn't this problem.
