Oh, and I also updated subscriptions to require both confirmation and approval.

So, we won't be having troublesome people subscribing to the list unless they get manually approved by a human being.

And default member moderation is also on, which has to manually turned off for subscribers who are able to prove that they are decent human beings.

Short of requiring some sort of CAPTCHA before any post is allowed to the list, I don't see how much further we can go down this road.

Even then, the evil types are more likely to come up with automated solutions for CAPTCHA and we'll probably just end up hurting the legitimate members more than anyone else.
