	Note that FreeBSD ships natively with ntpd (and has for years), 
and the upcoming 5-STABLE tree has already incorporated ntpd-4.2.0. 
So, there's not really anything to install, unless you need to use 
the very latest version from ports, which basically amounts to "make 
install" and you're done.

	Now, the configuring part, that can take a bit more work, but 
there's not really anything specific to FreeBSD for that.

	If you want to make the most out of old Intel hardware, I think 
FreeBSD is an excellent place to start.
