[ntp:questions] Domain Time II/alternative software

Thanks Brad. I guess I'm really looking for people's opinions on the
question: "What are the advantages/disadvantages in going with a
'completely proprietary' product such as Domain Time II, versus the open
source NTPD?"

Would one expect more or less bugs or issues to appear in NTPD 4.2.0a?
Should I consider using NTP v3?

The level of accuracy I need would be the same as that required for,
say, video stream packets (definitely below 20ms).

It looks to me like a completely proprietary product, of which
NTP is just one of a multitude of protocols they support. Given
that, it's impossible to tell just how accurate they can really keep
the time sync, how well they can interoperate, etc....

You have to decide what it is that you're looking for, and
figure
out which product best meets those needs. Personally, I wouldn't
touch it with a ten foot pole, but that's just a personal opinion.
