[ntp:questions] ntpd local synchronization fails?

Hi,

i have an ntp multicast Client running, but it fails
to synchronize his local clock, ntp as Service is
running and delivering the right time. Only the
local clock will not be set.

NTP Version 4.1.2 is running on Linux 2.6.12.
I cant use ntpd Version 4.2.x, there is a multicast
Client bug.

Nov 11 15:19:31 ntp ntpd[8307]: ntpd 4.1.2 at 1.892 Fri Sep 30 15:44:55 CEST 2005
(1)
Nov 11 15:19:31 ntp ntpd[8307]: precision = 16 usec
Nov 11 15:19:31 ntp ntpd[8307]: kernel time discipline status 0040
Nov 11 15:22:56 ntp ntpd[8307]: time set 0.000000 s
Nov 11 15:22:56 ntp ntpd[8307]: synchronisation lost

Or another one:

Nov 11 11:29:05 ntp ntpd[25218]: ntpd 4.1.2 at 1.892 Fri Sep 30 15:44:55 CEST
2005 (1)
Nov 11 11:29:05 ntp ntpd[25218]: precision = 19 usec
Nov 11 11:29:05 ntp ntpd[25218]: kernel time discipline status 0040
Nov 11 11:36:01 ntp ntpd[25218]: time set -0.019479 s
Nov 11 11:36:01 ntp ntpd[25218]: synchronisation lost
Nov 11 11:51:04 ntp ntpd[25218]: kernel time discipline status change 1

It seems that the step is to big and the kernel fails, is that true?

What can i do to force ntpd let the local clock synchronized?
