This usage of ntpd will block your start-up. If you're not running
extremely time critical applications and/or you don't want to wait for
the clock you are better off just starting ntpd (as a deamon) with
'-g'.

FWIW: My tests of 'ntpq -g -q' found that, under ideal conditions, the
time setting can occur in as little as 11 seconds.
